Another article in our series where we look at some of the greatest ever football matches involving Greater Manchester's teams.
Now we look at a First Division match between Stockport County and Manchester City from 1997.

Context: Man City were reaching the half way point of their worst ever season. Stockport were actually doing well and finished the season in their highest-ever position.
Aftermath: City were relegated. It really is hard to imagine City being in the 2nd tier of English football, never mind the 3rd!
On fan commented on the Stockport's demise that followed: "And Fast Forward 23 years to
31st October 2020 and Stockport County lost at home to Weymouth 2-1 !!!"
One Stockport said: "Loved this game super al was my fave as a kid."
